Inverters are building blocks of analog computers and reverses the sign (Additive inverse for real numbers). Mathematically, it performs OUT = -IN
. The Analog Thing features five distinct inverters, seperated in rows.
Simple use of an Inverter
Just connect a single input line into the 1
input. Do not stack multiple jacks, only a single signal is allowed. At the output, you can take off as many signal copies as you want by stacking the jack.
Using an inverter as a summer
Together with a XIR, an inverter can be used as a fully featured Summer. To do so, just connect the SJ
(Summing Junction) jacks of both elements and then use the weighted inputs of the XIR as you would use them with a Summer.
